And it was time to install the new Exco FY 2008/09

Rebecca with her speech "Up or down". The perpetual question that plagues Men and Women - Should the toilet seat be left up or down?

Rebecca introduced us to 3 efficiency toilet seat schemes and even presented a statistic model based on 1 man + 1 woman + 1 toilet + 1 million visits to the toilet. She concluded her speech by urging us to "Think with our heart" the next time we use the toilet.


Lim Hui Sing (ABC Toastmasters Club) with her speech "Factors affecting job satisfaction". Did you know that the 3 highest factors are (1) Work standards, (2) Fair rewards and (3) Work Related stress? Hui Sing shared with us the findings of a survey from a local Kuching Hardware Company. The name of the Company was of course with-held : )

Training Meeting 080708

The training meeting on 8.7.2008 was the 1st for the new fiscal year. It was also the 1st in many other ways.

It was the 1st time we conducted the club business before the training meeting.

1st time Dunstan served as the President of Hornbill City Toastmasters Club.


And... the 1st time we used a one-of-a-kind hand-written meeting programme.



TOE Henrick got us off on a roaring start.

Followed by DTM Violetta with her ACB5 speech - Speak to inform. She taught us how to assemble...

Voila! Guaranteed to make sick people heal faster!

Violetta ended her speech by presenting a loaf of bread from the gift basket to Siew Yan, who incidentally was her evaluator...



Next, ATMB Derbe delivered her ACS5 - The Play, entitled "Fart Zen" by D.M. Borcaz Larson. The play is about the new age stress relief therapy - Fart to release your inner tensions.


"Is your tension giving you pain?"

Table Topics master Santokh gave us many thought provoking topics. Starting with:-

1. Life is short but there is always time for courtesy

2. The ability to accept responsibility is a measure of man


Zaimin: Uncle Don...

3. Man cannot discover new oceans unless he has courage to leave sight of the shores


Sandra: Leave your fear behind. Join Toastmasters!

4. Knowing others is intelligence knowing yourself is wisdom.


Fauzi: Know your own limit.

5. Those who bring sunshine into the life of others cannot keep it from themselves


Siew Yan: Smile and the whole world smiles with you.

6. A little knowledge is dangerous, a lot is lethal.


Henrick: Don't leave too many loose arrows around. Your enemies might throw them back at you.

Fauzi wrapped up the meeting as the General Evaluator.





Our belly had a good exercise that night - from the laughter during the meeting up to the supper at the end :)
